For the fifth year in a row, the Red Angels Drum Corps has raised its member fees, this time to a record-setting $11,283 for the 2024 marching season. The news came after several other corps canceled their 2024 season over fundraising concerns. “We here at the Red Angels will never cease to march, no matter how expensive it gets for our students,” said corps leader Marim Bass. “The Red Angels will proudly march into the future of DCI, and as more and more corps cease to exist, we’ll get closer and closer to winning our first gold medal. At this rate we should be due to win by 2070!”

Students in the corps responded to the news, with trumpet section leader Dizzy Gillispie saying, “I’m so excited that all our hard work is about to pay off. After three years of blood, sweat, tears, and taking out a second mortgage on my parents’ house, we’re finally in serious competition. All the sacrifices — all my mother’s jewelry we had to pawn — will be worth it when I hear them announce our twelfth-place finish in Indianapolis.”
