After years of synthesizing new, interesting concepts for books and short stories, local author Marianne Throuble has “completely run out of ideas.”
“I sat down to brainstorm ideas one dark and/or stormy night, and I couldn’t for the life of me think of anything new that hasn’t been done already. I feared there was nothing new I could do,” Throuble said.
Throuble reportedly developed several novel drafts, including a story about a young boy who discovered he had magical powers, a young girl who discovered she had magical powers, a story about a teenager who found out that they were a bit different from their peers, and a coming-of-age story about a group of wacky outsiders who find family within themselves. All were scrapped after conceptualization.
“Honestly, I think I’m just going to give up, it’s too hard to come up with something escapist when the world is like this,” she said. “It feels like every story has already been written. Also, I think I’ve been sober a bit too long. I’m missing my creative spark.”
Throuble was later spotted at the local liquor store purchasing several gallons of high-proof whiskey.
Erica is definitely alive and well, and no one should be worried about having not seen her since 2023.
