Social media influencer Rich Boye went viral recently with claims that the cash in his wallet had gained the ability to produce human speech, and that the historical figures imprinted on them had begun communing with him. According to a recent Instagram reel, he first noticed what he described as George Washington’s voice utter a string of words from a one-dollar bill, all of which were censored by the platform.
“You don’t have to believe me. I know what I heard. That’s right – these voices are coming from none other than our founding fathers,” said Boye in one video. “I haven’t heard a word from any fives, twenties, or fifties.”
Boye, however, is now facing backlash for defending the racist and homophobic statements made by the people on his banknotes. “Look, the folks who made our country said what they said,” said Boye in a TikTok video. “If you don’t agree, then you should be ashamed to call yourself an American.”
One reply said, “I’m Canadian. I would totally be ashamed to call myself an American.”
