Transportation Security Administration employee Ray Sun-Shyne was fired from Orlando International Airport (MCO) on account of “not behaving according to TSA values and in the TSA spirit.” Head of Security at MCO, Kristal Clear, explained that Sun-Shyne was engaging in “increasingly unbecoming behavior,” defined in the TSA handbook as “smiling, thanking, and in any way respecting the passengers’ emotional well-being.” She explained, “we thought it was bad when passengers would walk away from Ray’s station without a look of distress, but we knew we had to take action when we heard laughs.”
When approached for comment, Sun-Shyne said, “When my boss gave me the first warning about ‘the customer service concern,’ I assumed she meant my skills were lacking, not that they were too strong. I tried to be even nicer — I even baked the passengers cookies!”
Concerns about Sun-Shyne first began during the TSA’s job training. “I knew this guy was trouble when he failed our module on workplace harassment encouragement,” explained training supervisor Johnny O’Jerk. “I recommend he be removed from the job, but my bosses thought being in a high-stress environment would roughen up his edges.”
When asked about his next plans, Sun-Shyne revealed that “I was actually scouted for a job at Disney World a couple months ago.”
