In a controversial move, Housing, Dining and Hospitality has partnered with PepsiCo and Amazon to introduce a line of all-new soft drink machines that use biometrics to charge students for beverages. Students who wish to use the new machines must pay a fee of $21.99 a month, which is added to their quarterly e-bill and covers a maximum of eight drinks per month. In order to use the machines, students must complete fingerprint and eyeball scans, as well as input the last four digits of their PID.

According to HDH representative John J. Wout, while the school spent over $2.8 million on the machines, they will pay for themselves over time. “Not only will we gain priceless information that we can use for our purposes, but student soda theft adds up to a whopping $300 a year. You ungrateful wretches will soon face retribution. Be warned.”

Students reported being “flabbergasted” at the new technology, with one anonymous Sixth College resident remarking, “Wait, we were supposed to be paying for that?”
